Everett Herman, the Director of Student and Faculty Engagement, manages aspects of student life at the Honors College including residence life, co-curricular programming, and civic engagement. In addition, Everett helps foster and develop relationships with Pitt faculty to offer students incredible courses and mentorship opportunities.
Prior to joining the team at the Honors College, Everett completed his Ph.D at the University of Pittsburgh in the School of Education. His dissertation focused on undergraduate students' motivating factors to become engaged in their communities. Professionally, he has a wide array of experience working on a college campus. He was inspired to pursue a career working with college students after a rewarding experience as a Residence Advisor living in the College Houses at Penn. Through roles in Residence Life at Penn and the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia, he developed a passion for civic engagement and recognized the opportunity for students to develop leadership skills through community work.
While off campus, Everett is a proud father of three children. He wishes he had more free time to enjoy exploring the fantastic restaurants and parks of Pittsburgh. He is eagerly awaiting to teach his children how to golf and ski — so he can enjoy those activities more often, too!
